Watch them sleep

"The biggest mistake I made [as a parent] is the one that most of us make. . . . I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of [my three children] sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages six, four, and one. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done alittle less." author un-none

memorize their smile
Today enjoy them, breathe them in and remember that this
moment in time will pass.
Take lots of pictures, write down your memories
and don't get caught up in just doing the next thing.
Do this moment well ...

Beautiful!

I have many, many precious memories of my 6 older kids when they were little ... and all I had to focus on were "the littles". Then, when the littles became big, and I had more littles ... I didn't have as much time to play with the littles. At one point we had 8 teens in our home (6 of our own, plus 2 extra) ... and the 4 littles seemed to get caught in the shuffle. I missed the afternoons playing in the sprinkler, having picnics at the park, etc... I was too busy running the teens here and there and everywhere.

Now ... my first 6 littles are grown and gone. I am blessed by the memories of their growing up years. And, now I can focus on the lives of the next 6 littles. We, too, have amazing memories. I have taken 2 cross country road trips with these 6 ... something I never was able to do just with the older 6.

I am slowing life down for these 6 ... making sure that we, too, are making time for FUN ... making sure that we are making memories together.

Great words, Robin. I, too, encourage moms to slow down and BE with their children. Live in the moment. Don't let these years pass in a blur.

All of the extra-curricular activities that we add to our children's lives won't matter ... if we lose who we are as a family.

Hope your week is BLESSED!

Laurel
